Hello, hello, hello again!
This week has been super hectic, so I'm sure you've noticed the diminished amounts of posts the last few days. Well, let's play catch up!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I worked third shift, which I LOVE 😍 but am not used to the routine anymore. I worked third shift for a few years before Jase was born, and it was my favorite shift, but I've worked mainly second shift since I moved to dispatching. I've always been a night owl, and love both shifts equally, but it's hard to get back into it when it breaks you away from your routine.
EITHER WAY, on Thursday morning, I got off work around 0645 and headed home. Got home around 0730 and my family was running around like headless chickens trying to get themselves ready for work and school. We all piled in the car around 0800, and as we were driving away from the house, I realized just how long it had been since I'd eaten.
I was hungry, had had too much coffee and too little sleep. As a result, I felt a little weird, which I chalked up to being a little nervous.
When I got to the school, Noah and Jase were SUPER excited. Jase, being only three, is obsessed with wanting to go to school like big bro. And Noah, being Noah, is obsessed with being an awesome big bro, so he was proudly showing off his little brother to his friends.
Class started around 0820, and the kids all got settled. I wasn't nervous, I've done plenty of public speaking. But, my hands couldn't stop shaking.
Now, my hands have always trembled. Since I was a little girl, I have never been able to hold my hands still like most others can. My fingers always shake. But this? This was a full on low-sugar, high-caffeine situation. Thankfully, as embarrassing as my visibly shaky hands was, my voice didn't shake as I read my book to fourteen of my son's peers.
I was delighted to get a few laughs, and not just crickets as well! All in all, it seemed as if they really enjoyed the book, and Noah came home that day just gushing that all his friends wanted copies of their own. I donated a copy to their class, and also one to the school's library.
All together, I was REALLY excited about how the morning turned out! I felt like it was a wonderful trial run for my events next week, which include a reading at the local library and a full DAY of reading at my old Elementary School. I'm so very full of anticipation for all the upcoming days! And hopefully, I have learned a valuable lesson in being well rested and eating well before events, haha!
Keep checking back for new events! I'm hoping to be adding new ones very soon!
Always Keep Adventuring!
