It's Just Been One of Those Weeks

Does anyone else have a certain month, or time of year, when it seems life just wants to screw with you? September - October are usually those months, and boy let me tell you: this year has been rough on us.

Broken glasses, paychecks were short, bills were shuffled around, the dogs chewed up the hallway wall, the truck broke down, it's getting cooler and we still don't have a clothes dryer....

And most of that was just this week.

But it's okay. It's okay because I know we will be taken care of. We have always been blessed.. even on those days when we've got a quarter tank of gas and four days until payday. Even on those days when everything is breaking, and tempers are running high. Even on those days when it feels like the hours upon hours upon hours of working will never pay off.. it always does.

I've felt awful today with a sinus cold and my chronic tummy issues. I can't concentrate to save my life, but I'm pushing through today. I came back to my weekly blog with no idea what to write. I didn't even feel like writing. I just wanted to sit at my desk and stare off into space, to be quite honest.

I know I'm just rambling at this point, but I just want to say that if anyone else has weeks or months like this:
#1 You are not alone.
#2 If you are a faithful person, keep praying. We may not attend church as often anymore due to schedules, but we pray. I pray daily, and not just before bed. Through the anxiety attacks, through the stress, through the days when there's no money. But also on the days that go perfectly right. On the sunny days, when everyone is smiling, and we can afford to randomly go out to dinner or buy toys for the kiddos. I pray. I thank God everyday, good or bad, for the opportunity to experience today.

End of rant.

I'll be back with better material next week, when my brain is processing information again.

Always Keep Adventuring

Snow Drifting

If you live in the Heartland of America, then there's a good chance that you're experiencing snow and ice right now. As an Illinoisan, snow and ice are just a part of our everyday lives during the wintertime. Last winter was rather dry, and we only had a small dusting the entire season. This year, however, Mother Nature has decided to make up what she had missed. This past Thursday was a balmy 61 degrees when I walked into work. Eight hours later, the temperature had dropped to 41, and by the time I made it home at around 10:30 PM, it had dropped an additional ten degrees. By 11:00 PM, it was sleeting. The sleet continued until early Friday morning and eventually turned to snow. Personally, I LOVE snow! Fall and winter are my favorite times of the year, and snow is one of the few things in life that hasn't lost its magic as I've aged. I love sledding and snowboarding (even though I recently bruised my tailbone by pretending I'm still 17 and agile, not 27 and app...

I'm Back!

Hello, people of the internet! I've been on vacation this week, and LET ME TELL YOU WHAT: It was glorious . I have had such a wonderful week, that I don't even know what to say. Monday was my birthday and I did absolutely NOTHING. Not a thing. I was lazy and didn't do a single chore that wasn't completely necessary. I went to my Ma Ma's house, ate chicken & dumplings and blueberry-lemon cheesecake, and had a super fun night with my family. My dad thought it would be funny to swap my candles.  Tuesday was my 7th wedding anniversary. Josh, the kids, and I went to Metropolis Public Library's Fall Reading Program night. It was SO much fun! They had a taco bar, and coloring, and prizes. I read my books to the kids, met family members for the first time, and had an all around great time. After the Library, Josh and I dropped off the kiddos and went out to watch Kingsman: The Golden Circle . We were absolutely thrilled with the movie (and even happier...
